Fall family on the farm! | Foxburg Pennsylvania family photography

When I initially chatted with this beautiful mom about setting up a family session, she said she really wanted to take advantage of the fall colors.  So I suggested early October, which is USUALLY when everything is amazingly bright and beautiful.  And then she said she was working on getting permission to do the session at a gorgeous location.  This really had all the ingredients for the most perfect fall photography session!

Well....as they say....the best laid plans......

It ended up being a very green weekend as our fall colors were much later than usual.  And the day that we scheduled ended up with impending rain!  And with busy schedules on both ends....trying to reschedule quickly is next to impossible.  So we crossed fingers and hoped for the best.

Well, things started off perfectly....until we got about 15 minutes of shooting in and then there was rain.  And more rain.  And still more rain.  And not just a little rain...it was a literal downpour.  So we tried to continue the session by using overhangs working around the weather.  Fortunately, by the end of the session, we finally saw some sun and finished our beautiful session.

In spite of the challenges, this was still one of my most favorite fall sessions!  Thank you all so much!

An extended family session on the Allegheny River!

I just love big family sessions!!!  I think, next to wedding photos, these are some of the most cherished photos we have.  I know, with my own family, that the opportunities to get EVERYONE together, somewhat cleaned up, and willing [dragged] to gather for one big family portrait is something that doesn't happen very often.  So when it does, when all the stars align....we celebrate.  These are definitely not every day occasions, they are "once every few years" occasions.

Kate contacted me because her entire family was going to be at her parent's cottage by the river for Memorial Day weekend.  They really wanted to take an opportunity to capture these days.  So I met them at their cottage on a [hot!] Saturday morning. They made my job very easy - with such a beautiful family on a perfect day with an amazing backdrop?  You just can't go wrong.

On a sad note, the family wanted to take a few moments to remember a dear family member they lost too soon.  It was such a sweet moment and, I have to admit, I had a hard time seeing through my lens due to my own tears.

Thank you so much Kate and thanks to all your family.  It was such a pleasure meeting and working with you all!

Brittany and Brandon! | Presque Isle State Park Engagement Photography

Well, it has been quite a while since I have blogged but finally things are settling down after my crazy summer, and I have been slowly getting back into the groove.

I am so excited to share this engagement session.  And one thing I really love being a photographer is when I start to get clients who are friends and relatives of past clients!

Brittany is a super sweet girl who I have known for a while now as my husband was her high school swim coach back in the day.  She is also very good friends with a few of my past brides.  Brandon is the brother of a past client who I have done family/engagement AND wedding photos for.  This is definitely a couple who comes from two great families and are just down-to-earth good people.  And I can't wait to shoot their wedding this fall!!!

But first, their engagement session.

When I was chatting with Brittany about where to do the session, we discussed the usual locations in our local area but I mentioned that I love to do engagement sessions at a location that may have some personal significance to the couple.....such as where they got engaged.  Brittany said "well we got engaged up in Erie at Presque Isle".  And I said.....PERFECT!

As a former Erie-ite,  Presque Isle is one of my favorite places.  And I am always eager for an opportunity to make the trip up there.

We met on the evening of Mother's Day.  It was absolutely beautiful.  We started at Perry's Monument (the actually location of the proposal).  And we ended at the beach as the sun was setting.

Perfection.

Thank you both so much!  Can't wait for November!!!!!!
